Leather Spine Journal
with Gel Printed Papers for Covers and Pages
Once you have made your Gel Printed
Papers, we will incorporate them into the
cover and the signature wrappers in our
Leather Bound Sketch Book Journal.
This journal will be made using the
Long Stitch Binding technique. The book
lies flat for sketching or lettering. A button
will decorate the spine of this special book
which will hold your writing, and/or art or
make a unique gift.
The Gelli Plate is a tool that encourages play, but it can also
be a serious fine art tool. Learn the basics of mono printing with
the gel plate, but then take the processes further to create some
beautiful layered art. No experience necessary! Jacqueline will
guide you step-by-step as you create amazing papers loaded with
layers of color and design. We’ll explore lots of processes with a
variety of media.
We will start with stencils, but also work with creating handmade marks,
and even painting directly onto the plate. Create
more painterly effects using water to pick up bits of color already
on the plate. Learn how to make collage papers as well as finished prints.
Practice on a variety of papers and elevate your art
beyond simple printing with stencils and you will become even
more addicted to this fun and simple printing process.
Jacqueline Sullivan works in mixed media,
acrylic paints, pastels. calligraphy, bookbinding
and fiber arts – She has loved them all since she
first discovered each medium. She has a degree
in graphic design and worked for many years as
a publication, marketing and advertising designer,
but her passion has always been with color
and paint, no matter what the surface or medium.
Jacqueline lives and works in Cincinnati,
OH. but teaches workshops worldwide.
