ish Response to Disaster has been in Western North Carolina since early October helping to bring tikkun olam to our mountain home. Nechama’s work focuses on some of the hardest hit areas from Hurricane Helene within a one hour drive from Asheville. check out the facebook page to see our local community folks at work. This work is Sunday – Friday and generally from 8:30 – 3:00. The staff is cognizant that that is the ideal and that folks have schedules, such as school drop off, as well as stamina issues so can also be flexible. Our community is working to increase the number of local volunteers as well as our wider networks across the Southeast so if you know of others who could be engaged in this work please forward this email. They also have bunk style lodging for groups at Camp Judaea and plan to be in WNC through August so spread the word to your connections – Jewish and otherwise. All volunteers who sign up will receive regular notices of the following week’s schedules and needs.
