We all have dear family members and friends who no longer are physically part of our daily lives but who invariably enter into our thinking as we go through each day. Their words, their actions, their very lives continue to influence us in profound ways.

A group of CBI folks have been working on writing ethical wills, which is a document that explores our experiences, life lessons, priorities, memories, thoughts and connections to Judaism. These ethical wills are an opportunity for us to pass down what life has taught us to future generations. Shavuot celebrates our receiving the Torah, a word that means “instruction” or “guidance.” Jewish tradition encourages each of us to write our own Torah.

Writing out these ethical wills is one way to pass down our own teachings. Join us at the Tikkun Leyl Shavuot as we share our ideas and have a discussion about them.
