The Center for Jewish Studies at UNC Asheville invites you to take part in a meaningful UNC Asheville tradition: the Reading of Names in honor of Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. This year’s reading will take place on the

9 AM to 5 PM
Each volunteer reads the names of Holocaust victims aloud for a 15-minute slot—giving voice to lives once silenced. This act is simple yet profound: a moment to reflect, remember, and reaffirm the dignity of every human being.
This tradition has continued annually since 2000, with just one exception due to weather. This public remembrance affirms our shared values: respect for memory, vigilance against injustice, and a belief in human dignity.
