Unlocking the Power of Our Prayer
CBI Monthly Learners’ Minyan
Jewish communal prayer can be a profoundly powerful experience, connecting us to each other, our history, the world and something much bigger than ourselves. But for too many, our services remain inaccessible and enigmatic. We’re not fluent in Hebrew, and even if we were, the language is often off-putting and uninspiring, or the very concept of God is incomprehensible. Sounds familiar? Let’s do something about it.
CBI will be offering a monthly learners’ minyan, “Unlocking the Power of Jewish Prayer.” Led by Alan Silverman, this program will help you understand the what, how and why of our services. We’ll look at the history of our prayers, what they’re trying to tell us and how to reframe them to speak to us. The goal is to give you the tools and knowledge to not only feel comfortable in services but to connect, personally and communally, in a more meaningful way.
We will meet the first Saturday of each month, from 9:30 – 10:30 in the small chapel, and rejoin the congregation for Torah service. You need not attend every class. Come as you are—with your questions, frustrations and hopes—and leave changed.
