On October 7, four photojournalists who worked for the New York Times, CNN, AP, and Reuters infiltrated southern Israel with Hamas. Their photos and accounts continued to color the news until one month later, Gil Hoffman and his organization, HonestReporting, exposed the travesty.

On April 28, Gil Hoffman will speak in Asheville to address pressing questions, including:

• Why does the UN and the media continue to rely on Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health for its fatality figures in the war—despite belated acknowledgements that Hamas exaggerates the percentage of non-combatants killed?
• How is overall coverage of the conflict distorted by the media’s reliance on Hamas and agents of Hamas?  
• How does this coverage constrain Israel’s ability to defend itself?

Gil served as chief political correspondent and analyst for The Jerusalem Post for nearly 25 years and is currently a regular analyst on CNN, Al-Jazeera, and other news outlets. He was raised in Chicago, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northwestern University’s School of Journalism, and wrote for the Miami Herald and Arizona Republic before moving to Israel.
