DESCRIPTION:FABRIC EXPLORATIONS With Suzie Beringer\n\nHave you always wan
 ted to create on fabric\, but didn’t know where or how to begin? This wo
 rkshop will take away those mysteries and you will see what exciting possi
 bilities designing on fabric can bring.\n\nBeth Israel is excited to annou
 nce Fabric Explorations\, an opportunity to explore and learn with Suzie B
 eringer\, working to combine strong\, simple illustrations and abstraction
 s to be enhanced with accents and textures of lettering\, all on fabric! S
 uzie is a freelance letter artist with over 30 years calligraphic experien
 ce and a degree in Commercial Art. If you’ve worked on fabric before\, y
 ou\nknow how adaptable and forgiving it can be. If you haven’t worked wi
 th fabric\, you will be surprised and delighted in its characteristics as 
 a substrate. Strong layout and design will go a long way and whether you a
 re familiar with lettering or not\, the enhancements we learn will surely 
 add an element of depth to your explorations!\n\nA good quality muslin act
 s as a tightly knit canvas\, priming itself with each layer. Using this as
  our base\, the focus on this workshop will be on surface design. Suzie wi
 ll guide us in preparing an effective design whether pictorial or abstract
 . Calligraphic experience is not necessary\, but our works will also be la
 yered with lettering as we learn to balance with the colors and movement i
 n our layouts while adding a delicate sense of depth and texture. Letterin
 g can range from your own journaling script\, to a simple mono line\, a te
 xtured effect or any other hand you may want to incorporate!\n\nSuzie will
  share with you many different finished samples that were done on fabric t
 o help inspire you. This workshop will enable you to dive in with confiden
 ce and walk away with enough tools in your pocket to continue that play.\n
 \nSuzie Beringer is a lettering artist who makes her home in the Pacific N
 orthwest. With a degree in commercial art with a life-time passion for cal
 ligraphy\, she is constantly exploring new  possibilities and pushing her
 self creatively. Her work has been published in Letter Arts Review as well
  as other publications. As a teacher she loves to share her passion for ma
 rk making and design with others. As an artist Suzie loves the challenge a
 nd discovery that lettering on different surfaces brings. It has been said
 \, that if something around her doesn’t move quickly enough it may end u

  13\, 2023 • 9:30am—4:30pm\n\nREGISTRATION: Early Bird registration by
  May 1 \, 2023: $375 (this includes supplies fee). Registration fee from M

 ANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations made prior to May 15 are refundable\, le
 ss a $36 administrative charge. Cancellations made up until June 15th are 
 eligible for a 50% refund. Cancellations made after June 15th are non-ref
 undable\, however the registration can be transferred to a donation to the
