DESCRIPTION:Do your ears perk up when you hear a Yiddish word in in an Engl
 ish\nconversation? Do you have memories of people in your family speaking 
 Yiddish?\nSheldon Neuringer grew up in a home where Yiddish was used as mu
 ch as\nEnglish. His doctoral dissertation explored US immigration policies
  affecting the\nhundreds of thousands of Jewish immigrants from eastern Eu
 rope. And then years later\,\nhe attempted to translate a Yizkor book writ
 ten in Yiddish by Holocaust survivors from\nhis parents’ ancestral shtet
 el in Poland.\n\nSeveral years ago\, all of these experiences resulted in 
 his writing “For the Love\nof Yiddish\,” a short story focusing on two
  elderly Jewish men enrolled in a course at a\nrecreation center in a cond
 ominium complex in Boynton Beach\, Florida\, whose\nconversations reveal e
 xperiences with and attitudes toward this ancient language of\nAshkenazic
